1. Describe your project briefly
CORPO A CORPO | Bodily Conversations is a monthly column on Playboy Italia – the review that most defined a certain imagery of the ideal body, especially the feminine one. Here it appears as a defying and dissonant presence; a kind of monthly performative act, on paper. They are little conversations about the body where the bodies are absent, with people that beside having a body, made the body their job, surface of work, field of research, knowledge, inquiry, cure. And low-fi images, often grainy, probably out of focus, as every closed-up and macroscopic gaze, which result out of the differed conversation. It’s a space of intimate dialogue that opens up to the public, trying to give back shades and facetings that compose, define, are about the body, through a chorality of points of view and approaches to it. This project is part of a wider research (and action) on the topic of the body and the taboos related to it existing in our society. The column is the first of a series of declinations.
2. What is the aim of the project?
Broadening the discourse on the body and the (stereotyped) imagery related to it.
3. Who was involved in designing process?
4. If you could change something, what would you change?
I would like to broaden it including people from other countries and other languages.
5. How do the project impact on civil society?
Usual readers of Playboy find this kind of unexpected content inside a magazine that usually suggest a precise and one-way vision of the body, very sexualized and eroticized. Non readers got to approach Playboy to read this content.
6. How do you evaluate the project’s impact?
It's a small thing that can grow and go a long way.
